Description

The Soviet dictatorship of Josef Stalin had a decisive influence on the 20th century and – judging by the current political situation in the East – unfortunately continues to have a major impact to this day. The concert and lecture “Culture and Dictatorship – Ways of Coexistence” provides a reflective insight into that time from the perspective of the resistance of intellectuals using artistic means – above all literature and music.

The literary basis is provided by texts by great Russian-language writers who dealt with the effects of the destructive violence of the dictatorship on their own society. Through their art, they were able to provide spiritual support to their fellow human beings and at the same time strengthen the will to resist.

Musically, works by Sergei Prokofiev, Dmitri Shostakovich and Joseph Achron provide direct emotional access to the topic and illustrate how the non-verbal art genre of music is able to convey the most difficult things and enable lasting reflection.

Alexander Lifland (Violine)

Der vielseitige Violinist ist als Kammermusiker, Solist und Orchestermusiker tätig. Seit 2010 ist Alexander Lifland festes Mitglied des Beethoven Orchester Bonn. Er ist Preisträger mehrerer internationaler Wettbewerbe. Sein beruflicher Werdegang führte Alexander Lifland u. a. zu den Münchner Philharmonikern und dem Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. Im Jahr 2009 wurde er 1. Konzertmeister des Orchesters des Landestheaters Coburg. In dieser Funktion trat er mehrfach solistisch in Erscheinung. Alexander Lifland wurde 1982 in Irkutsk geboren. Sein Musikstudium absolvierte Alexander Lifland an der Musikakademie Tel Aviv sowie an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. Ein Highlight der letzten Jahre bildete u. a. der Soloauftritt mit dem Brahms Violinkonzert mit dem Symphonieorchester Bergisch Gladbach unter der Leitung von Roman Salyutov. Als Pianist und Moderator gestaltet dieser gemeinsam mit Alexander Lifland viele besondere Projekte, z. B. die Geschichte der Geige von Itzhak Orloff, der im Holocaust ums Leben kam. Neue Formate wie die Verbindung zwischen Musik, Literatur und Geschichte haben ebenfalls große Resonanz bei Publikum und Presse gefunden.

Roman Salyutov (Klavier)

Roman Salyutov studierte Klavier und Dirigieren in Sankt Petersburg und Köln und wurde als Musikwissenschaftler zum Dr. phil. in Paderborn promoviert. Seine Auftritte führen ihn neben vielen Engagements in Europa auch in die USA, nach Japan, Australien, Neuseeland und Israel. Meisterkurse und musikwissenschaftliche Vorträge an Universitäten und im Rahmen von Festivals sind ebenso Teil seiner Tätigkeit. Er ist Leiter des Sinfonieorchesters Bergisch Gladbach und Organisator mehrerer nationaler wie auch internationaler Projekte. Neben seinen rein künstlerischen Auftritten beschäftigt sich Roman Salyutov mit Bildungs- und Aufklärungsarbeit durch Kultur wie auch multidisziplinären Projekten, die verschiedene Kunstarten und Darbietungsformen verbinden – beispielsweise Ausstellungen, Vorträge, Lesungen und Gesprächsrunden mit Musik. Ende 2024 hat er die erste „Internationale Erich Wolfgang Korngold Gesellschaft e. V.“ gegründet, die sich schwerpunktmäßig dem Schaffen verbannter, vergessener, verbotener und ermordeter Komponisten in der NS-Zeit widmet. Für sein Engagement im Bereich Kultur wurde Roman Salyutov mit der Ehrennadel der Stadt Bergisch Gladbach ausgezeichnet.
