Our Hanukkah events this year:

ImproVision IV: Music meets Light

Improvisation: The speed of light

Noam Sivan, piano

How can music be created and performed live at the same time—so quickly and in real time?
What goes on in the mind of an improviser?
How can one prepare for this mysterious yet magical act of making music?

In this concert, Noam Sivan presents the art of piano improvisation, shares his personal experiences as an artist and places them in the context of his Jewish identity. Immediately before the start of the Jewish festival of lights, Noam Sivan draws inspiration from the tradition of the Hanukkah story with its mystical aspects, but also from the rich song repertoire of the eight-day festival.

On the morning of November 29th, Professor Sivan will share his extensive knowledge with students and enthusiasts of musical improvisation in a multi-hour workshop. You can see how this works in practice and what emerges from the workshop by watching recordings of Noam Sivan’s workshops from 2024 and 2025 on our YouTube channel. To register for active participation, please email anmeldung@villa-seligmann.de . The workshop is open to everyone. No prior knowledge is required for passive participation.

Tickets at 23/18/reduced price 8 euros are available in the webshop, at karten@villa-seligmann.de or by phone at 0511 844887-200.

Doors open at 7 pm.

About the Event

Hanukkah Concert

Every year, a window to the light of eternity opens in the dark season: the Jewish festival of lights, Hanukkah, is here! At the turning point of winter, it’s time to bring the old stories to life, sing cheerful songs and celebrate family happiness with games and sweet food. Hanukkah is eight days of activities, joy, light and music!

On the evening of the sixth day of the festival, we gather to light the candles and listen to a special concert of Jewish music performed by pianist Albert Mamriev. In commemoration of the miracle of the oil 2,188 years ago, there are fresh sufganiyot (Berliner) for everyone.

We are looking forward to an event in cooperation with the Jewish Education Center Chabad Lubavitch Lower Saxony, to which everyone is cordially invited.

Admission is free; donations are appreciated. Registration is required via the online store at karten@villa-seligmann.de or by calling 0511 844887-200. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
