Description
The earth is currently in a situation of ecological crisis. Despite numerous scientific studies proving this, we must fight for this fact to be recognized. From Arendt’s perspective, this raises the question of the possibility of action in the face of the immediate threat to human life in its plurality. The Hannah Arendt Lecture thrives on discourse, the direct exchange between the audience and the speakers. The format is an integral part of the HANNAH ARENDT DAYS and will once again take place this year at Villa Seligmann on Hannah Arendt’s birthday.
The HANNAH ARENDT DAYS, which have been held in Hanover since 1998, commemorate the important daughter of the state capital, who was born in Linden on October 14, 1906. A series of events on a current topic with political and social issues is held annually around the birthday of the German-American political theorist. Under the motto “Start doing! Our responsibility for the future” is the theme of this year’s HANNAH ARENDT DAYS from October 12 to 16, 2021.
The HANNAH ARENDT DAYS are an event organized by the City of Hanover in cooperation with the Institute of Political Science at Leibniz Universität Hannover and the Volkswagen Foundation. Villa Seligmann is a partner of the HANNAH ARENDT TAGE 2021.
