Juliane Banse
Few artists of her generation are as successful as soprano Juliane Banse in so many areas and with such a diverse repertoire. Her operatic repertoire ranges from Feldmarschallin, Figaro Countess, Fiordiligi, Donna Elvira, Vitellia to Genoveva, Leonore, Tatjana, Arabella and Grete. She achieved her artistic breakthrough at the age of 20 as Pamina at the Komische Oper Berlin in a production by Harry Kupfer. Her performance at the Zurich Opera as Snow White in the world premiere of the opera of the same name by Heinz Holliger, with whom she has always worked closely, is also unforgettable.
Born in southern Germany and raised in Zurich, the artist studied at the Zurich Opera House and in Munich, among other places. She has been teaching as a professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg since the winter semester 20/21. She also gives masterclasses at home and abroad and is a sought-after jury member at international competitions.
In concert, the artist performs a wide-ranging repertoire, which she has brought together with renowned conductors.
Lieder recitals and chamber music have always been an integral part of the calendar. In the field of opera, Juliane Banse most recently appeared on stage in Cologne in the revival of Walter Braunfels’ Jeanne d’Arc in the title role and in Zurich in the world premiere of Heinz Holliger’s opera Lunea. Numerous CD recordings by the artist have won awards, two of which were awarded the Echo Klassik: Braunfels’ Jeanne d’Arc with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra under Manfred Honeck (world premiere recording of the year) and Mahler’s 8th Symphony with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich under David Zinman.

Jan Philip Schulze
Jan Philip Schulze is professor of singing/song interpretation at the HMTM Hannover. He received his pianistic training at the Musikhochschule in Munich and at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. As a sought-after accompanist and chamber musician, he performs internationally with partners such as Juliane Banse, Annette Dasch, Rachel Harnisch, Dietrich Henschel, Jonas Kaufmann, Yves Savary, Robert Dean Smith and Violeta Urmana on the most important concert stages between the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Théâtre de la Monnaie Brussels, Wigmore Hall London, in Madrid, Paris, Vienna and Tokyo, at La Scala in Milan, at the festivals in Lucerne, Salzburg, Edinburgh, Munich and Schwarzenberg. At the same time, Jan Philip Schulze is regarded as an outstanding interpreter of contemporary music.
His participation in numerous world premieres, the recording of Hans Werner Henze’s piano works, which was highly praised by the specialist press as a reference recording, and his recent debut with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Iannis Xenakis’ Sinaphai piano concerto are evidence of his particular commitment.
