Description

Shelly Kupferberg in conversation with Max Czollek, Dr. Felix Klein, Laura Berman and Eliah Sakakushev-von Bismarck

This panel discussion deals with the difficult relationship between assimilation (the self-chosen and forced adaptation of a community to the surrounding society) and coexistence (the insistence of such a community on its cultural independence).

Invited are the poet and essayist Max Czollek, one of the best-known thinkers of his generation in Germany since his polemic “Disintegrate yourselves!”, the diplomat and lawyer Dr. Felix Klein, Federal Government Commissioner for Jewish Life in Germany since 2018, as well as Eliah Sakakushev-von Bismarck, Director of Villa Seligmann, and Laura Berman, Director of the Hanover State Opera. A musical program with performers from the State Opera will frame the discussion, which will be moderated by journalist and author Shelly Kupferberg.
