Hanover kicks off the Year of Culture 2025

The city of Hanover is starting the year of culture 2025 full of energy. With a new cultural brand and a full program, Hanover wants to showcase cultural diversity. “With the launch of the Hannover City of Culture brand, we are taking the next step after the application for the title of European Capital of Culture 2025 and the subsequent cultural development plan. We are confidently showing what Hannover has to offer as a city of culture. The brand brings visibility beyond Hannover’s city limits and conveys a common idea under which the cultural scene is networked and the economy is also on board. The concentrated power of culture is able to connect and thus strengthen cohesion in our society,” said Lord Mayor Belit Onay, summarizing the core of the brand. “The launch of the Hanover City of Culture brand also marks the start of a cultural year 2025 that will ensure a packed cultural calendar with many highlights and anniversaries and showcase the full diversity of Hanover’s cultural landscape,” announced Eva Bender, Head of Education and Culture. “The anniversary program for ’10 Years UNESCO City of Music’, which is starting now, the major blockbuster exhibition to mark 25 years of the Niki de Saint Phalle donation and 350 years of the Herrenhausen Gardens are just a few examples.” Culture and business went hand in hand in the development of the brand. The brand committee comprised stakeholders from various sectors, including members of the independent scene, major cultural institutions, state institutions and the private sector. The Hannover City of Culture brand will be alive and visible in Hannover and throughout Germany. Whether at the Kleines Fest im Großen Garten or the KunstFestSpiele, at the Night of the Museums or Zinnober, festivals such as the Tanzoffensive or Klatschmohn, anniversaries such as 10 years of UNESCO City of Music or the Kirchentag.

Highlights from the cultural year 2025 in Hanover
