In tribute to October 7, 2023, the Delyria Trio returns to Villa Seligmann for the sixth anniversary with a special program. The program focuses on works of variations based on Israeli and Jewish themes. It features 20th-century composers such as Paul Ben-Haim<\/strong>, Mieczys\u0142aw Weinberg<\/strong>, and Ursula Mamlok<\/strong>, as well as contemporary composers Shalom Hanoch<\/strong> and Michael Wolpe<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Australian composer Lee Bradshaw<\/strong> discovered the Delyria Trio at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition and decided to dedicate a work to the three Israeli musicians that combines their cultural and religious heritage with their affinity for contemporary innovation. The result is a four-movement work of epic scope that pushes the performers to their technical and emotional limits and serves as the centerpiece of the program. On the night of October 6\u20137, 2023, Bradshaw chose the verse \u201cMi Ha\u2019Ish\u201d (\u201cWho is man\u201d) from Psalm 34 as the title. It reads: <\/p>\n

Who is the person who loves life \/ and wishes to see good days?<\/em>
\nKeep your tongue from evil \/ and your lips from false speech!<\/em>
\nShun evil and do good; \/ seek peace and pursue it!<\/em><\/p>\n

Through the musical abstraction of \u201cMi ha\u2019Ish,\u201d Trio Delyria pays a deeply moving and personal tribute to the tragic events of October 7, 2023. The program oscillates between emotional depths and sublime heights through works by Berlin-born composers Ursula Mamlok and Michael Wolpe. The tragedy of war and the Shoah also come to the fore in the works of Paul Ben-Haim and Mieczys\u0142aw Weinberg. The program is rounded out by an arrangement of the well-known Israeli song \u201cShir Lelo Shem\u201d (Song Without a Title), which\u2014through the story of Israeli pianist Alon Ohel\u2019s captivity by Hamas\u2014has become a national symbol of hope and the healing power of music. <\/p>\n

… are David Strongin (violin), Uriah Tutter (cello), and Elisha Kravitz (piano). The trio studied at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts under Prof. Angelika Merkle (Master\u2019s degree and concert exam). At the same time, the three musicians studied at the International Institute of Chamber Music at the Escuela Superior de M\u00fasica Reina Sof\u00eda in Madrid. <\/p>\n

The trio was founded in the summer of 2020 in Frankfurt am Main and Berlin by three Israeli musicians living in Germany, who are united by their passion for the piano trio repertoire and their desire to explore it together. The ensemble has since established itself as a promising newcomer, known for its extraordinary vitality, cohesive interpretations, and distinctive artistic personalities. <\/p>\n

Trio Delyria\u2019s repertoire ranges from the earliest classical piano trios to contemporary music. The ensemble places a special emphasis on rediscovering unjustly forgotten works\u2014such as those by 20th-century Jewish composers\u2014and on collaborating with contemporary composers. The ensemble has received numerous awards in recognition of its achievements. <\/p>\n
