Most pupils are perhaps only familiar with Jews from religion or history lessons, also in connection with the Holocaust. The encounter with the writer Petra Kunik<\/strong> changes all that. In exchange with young people, she conveys Jewish culture, religion and history in Europe and makes Jewish life tangible. In conjunction with the exhibition “Liberated! And then?”<\/a> On the 77th anniversary of the commemoration of the end of the Second World War in Europe, the author will be at the Villa Seligmann on 17. and May 18 with two event formats.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>8.15 to 10.30 a.m. or 11 a.m. to 1.15 p.m.<\/u><\/p>\n

Petra Kunik reads from Der geschenkte Gro\u00dfvater<\/em> – eine j\u00fcdische Kindheit im Nachkriegsdeutschland and tells how her parents conveyed a positive, lively Judaism to her. In this context, the pupils can gain an insight into Jewish holidays and customs.<\/p>\n

Petra Kunik will read excerpts from Grandmother tells of the High Rabbi L\u00f6w<\/em> about the 12-year-old Daniel, who experiences a Jew-hostile attack in the subway, as well as passages from her essay My Jewish Culture of Remembrance<\/em>. Petra Kunik talks to the pupils about Jewish life in Europe today and the new\/old anti-Semitism.<\/p>\n

\"YouthPetra Kunik, born in Magdeburg in 1945, grew up in Frankfurt am Main and is an active member of the Jewish community. She is a trained actress and author of children’s plays, books, short stories and essays. She is an interreligious and intercultural speaker and aims to build bridges of understanding through her work.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
