A piano recital with Irmela Roelcke<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n

In this piano recital, pianist Irmela Roelcke<\/a> dedicates herself to the works of Jewish composers who had to flee into exile from persecution by the National Socialist regime. The music of Stefan Wolpe<\/a> (1902-1972) forms the dramaturgical arc and common thread: Born in Berlin, the composer fled Germany in 1933 and made his way to New York via Vienna and Jerusalem. Roelcke’s program brings together solo piano pieces from all of Wolpe’s creative periods, illuminating his broad stylistic spectrum. Juxtaposed or juxtaposed with them are compositions of the most diverse aesthetic directions, including works by Artur Schnabel<\/a>, Ruth Schonthal<\/a>, Ursula Mamlok<\/a>, and Mieczys\u0142aw Weinberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In her work, Irmela Roelcke combines concertizing with teaching, practicing with reflecting and communicating music. In doing so, it develops innovative concepts and dramaturgically profiled programs. One focus of her work is the rediscovery and presentation of rarely performed or lost piano and piano chamber music. She leads her own private piano class in Berlin and works at the music school Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf in the study preparation. In addition, she is repeatedly invited as a lecturer at various universities.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The concert will take place within the framework of the International Leo Kestenberg Society<\/strong> ‘s Workshop on the Theory and Practice of Cultural Heritage Education.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
