THE SELIGMANN VILLA TODAY<\/h1>\n

Since its reopening in 2012, Villa Seligmann has been an integral part of cultural life in Hanover as a center for Jewish music. Under the direction of Prof. Andor Isz\u00e1k, it has established itself as a center of Jewish culture where Jewish life is visible and can be experienced. Since 2018, Eliah Sakakushev-von Bismarck has served as artistic director and executive director. <\/p>\n

AN OPEN HOUSE FOR JEWISH CULTURE<\/h4>\n

With a creative variety of events, Villa Seligmann opens its doors to all interested visitors, regardless of religion or cultural background. By learning from one another, gaining knowledge about one another, and talking with one another, bridges are built to break down prejudices. Villa Seligmann\u2019s sphere of influence begins where Jewish community life ends: Thus, the institution sees itself as a community-neutral \u201coutpost\u201d of (German) Judaism that conveys Jewish content to the entire citizenry. Music, words, emotion, and intellect come together in an open exchange of ideas and life experiences. Connections are made; impressions and insights are shared. The guiding principle is the natural place of Jewish life in 21st-century Germany at the heart of our society. <\/p>\n

The focus is on Jewish music, religion, culture and the diverse realities of Jewish life worldwide. Villa Seligmann sees itself as a meeting place for Jewish life in all its diversity in Germany and actively promotes dialog between different cultures and world views. <\/p>\n

EVENT FORMATS<\/h4>\n

Through a variety of formats, Villa Seligmann showcases Jewish music and culture in all its forms. The program\u2019s focus is not limited to outstanding artists from the local, national, and international music scenes; amateur and semi-professional musicians are also included. The concerts span numerous musical genres, including chamber music, recitals, choral music, and modern pop music. In the summer, events are also held in the villa\u2019s garden, which are very popular with the Hanover audience. <\/p>\n

The context of salon society is of great importance to the character of the gatherings held in the house. This includes not only the salon conversations that follow the music, but also the musical table conversations, in which universal Jewish concepts are discussed and conveyed. The \u201cSpurensuche\u201d series offers a critical and historically accurate look into the house\u2019s past. <\/p>\n

EXHIBITIONS AS A BRIDGE TO CONTEMPORARY JEWISH LIFE<\/h4>\n

Documentary and art exhibitions are held regularly in the former private quarters of the Seligmann family. Both in-house productions and a wide range of collaborative projects offer new insights into Jewish thought and creativity. From private art collections to interactive art installations, from historical artifacts and cultural-political contexts to Hebrew calligraphy, Villa Seligmann also serves as a Jewish museum, not least because of its historic interior and the artwork housed there. The exhibitions are not only aimed at an educated audience but also encourage direct engagement with the exhibits through innovative concepts, such as guided tours led by school students. <\/span><\/p>\n

EDUCATION FOR ALL GENERATIONS<\/h4>\n

In addition, Villa Seligmann serves as an extracurricular learning center. For example, it hosts writing and storytelling workshops for children and teenagers that foster an understanding of Jewish holidays and traditions in a playful way. Villa Seligmann offers a comprehensive educational program for people of all ages. With its interdisciplinary learning concepts, it is primarily aimed at schools, but also at interested adults.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/3″]
